The Lightweight StrollerThe lightweight baby stroller, although looks quite similar to the standard stroller, weighs approximately 20 pounds or less, depending on the brand of stroller. Most are available with the same features as the standard stroller; reclining seat, swiveling front wheels and suspension, dual wheel brake system, 5-point harness and easy fold mechanism. And you can basically find the same accessories available as well. The lightweight stroller folds nicely and is more compact when compared to the standard stroller and some manufacturers even designed their infant carrier/car seat to fit in their lightweight stroller. It may seem practical to own a lightweight stroller versus a standard stroller if it meets your needs, but consider this,even though a standard stroller is bulkier, the frame may prove to be sturdier and last longer. The Umbrella StrollerThe umbrella stroller was given it's unique name from the shape of the handles on the stroller. They are an up-side down "J", which resembles the shape of the old fashioned umbrella handle. This type of stroller is basically a fabric seat attached to an aluminum and plastic frame with wheels and weighs even less than the lightweight stroller. You will find very little accessories attached, usually a small sun canopy and a storage sack. But this stroller is convenient when traveling and takes up very little room when folded. The umbrella stroller is not as durable and sturdy as the standard and lightweight strollers, and most do not offer a reclining seat for infants. This particular stroller works best with children six months and older and used as a "back-up". It is a gem when used for traveling.
